Bill Gates Talks

Microsoft is one of the world’s largest companies, selling computer technology across the world. They created the Windows Operating System and also the industry standard Windows Office package that can be seen in almost every business in the UK today. Microsoft also produces a Windows server, which currently runs over 80% of operating websites around the world. There is a huge burden of responsibility on Microsoft and its founder Bill Gates to get it right:

“I think it’s fair to say that personal computers have become the most empowering tool we’ve ever created. They’re tools of communication, they’re tools of creativity, and they can be shaped by their user.”

The Windows server 2008 package is specifically designed to be user friendly. Built to look like Microsoft’s new operating system Windows 7, the new server is both clever and looks fabulous. And with their new media streaming upgrades, Microsoft are putting on the final touches to an already astounding programme.

“If you can’t make it good, at least make it look good.”

In this Windows server, Microsoft have achieved both targets admirably. The new system is much better implemented than the previous 2003 model, with easier to understand navigation and a more straightforward installation process.

“The Internet is becoming the town square for the global village of tomorrow.”

And Windows server 2008 seems to be the right server to get your business there. At web hosting company CWCS we can show you how windows server 2008 can give your business a boost.

A Library Of Information

Imagine your website as a library of information. People come and go, they may ask for information about your products, perhaps they want to fill out forms, or just find out where your stores are located. Some may be ready to buy there and then. It is clear that the larger the site, the more people will want to browse.

Now imagine your library has a wealth of information with video tutorials, helpful blogs, and lots of photographs. Imagine your library is brightly lit, with clearly defined areas to go. Imagine your library is well stocked and intelligently designed. This all sounds great, but then imagine that there are only a few staff, and they go out to lunch often. How disappointing it would be to all those potential customers?

Having a poor web hosting server is just like having poor staff. Without a fast system behind you, you clients will become frustrated and look elsewhere. Investing in your website is a good idea, but it needs to be backed up with the right questions about your dedicated server – is it an appropriate bandwidth, is there enough memory for what I want to provide? Is it value for money?

At CWCS we have over 10 years award winning experience at the very top of the UK’s web hosting industry. If you have a Linux server or a Windows server, we can show you how we can help your customers get what they want from your website without struggling thanks to a poor hosting service.

Calls for Better Internet Security

In this year’s meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Craig Mundie, Microsoft’s Chief Research Officer, called for more authentication to combat the increase in cyber attacks.

Recent problems with assaults on organisations around the world, such as Facebook and America’s CIA, have highlighted a need for better security on the net. The freedom and anonymity that the internet proudly spouted in its first heady days have been compromised by a succession of infiltrators, viruses and computer hackers from across the world.

Mr Mundie went on to say that if you went to buy a car, you would need a licence and documentation, you would receive a receipt too, all information that will identify you and the purchase. The internet needs to have its own form of protection so as to better identify which computers are trying to access and infiltrate a site.

One of the great benefits of having your own Linux dedicated server is that hackers often want to maximise the damage they do, and since the majority of Linux users are businesses, the infamy of the virus creator is limited. Viruses, therefore, are far more prevalent on Windows servers. Also, with the open source nature of Linux, there are many more technical programmers ready to probe the code and fight any viruses that do break through.

At CWCS, we have plenty of information on the latest developments in both Linux and Windows servers, and can help you make the right choice for your business and your site. Having a dedicated server is key for improving your internet security.

Antique Dealing in Modern Times

Antiques and collectables are all the rage right now. The TV channels seem filled with shows such as Antiques Road Show, Cash in the Attic and Car Boot Challenge. Thousands of us are scanning car boots, antiques stores and auction houses all over the country looking for that rare Steiff teddy bear or unusual piece of Lalique crystal.

We all want a bargain, and we all need some extra cash every once in a while, so trying to buy or sell the odd good quality item to an antiques or collectables store is great idea to start off a holiday fund.

People are turning to the internet for information about their own hidden treasures. From eBay to Wikipedia, easily sourced good quality information is hard to find. The opportunities for an online antiques business are better than ever now.

For a successful online business, a well produced professional looking site is imperative. Also, having an excellent web hosting service like ours at CWCS to back up and support your site is essential, with 2GB of web space and a whopping 10,000MB of data transfer memory for either your Windows server or Linux dedicated server; that’s just on our incredibly priced Starter Plan

At CWCS we have information regarding a wide range of web hosting options, aog with fully dedicated servers.

Windows Server 2008 R2

The launch of Windows Server 2008 R2 stirred up the whole Windows server vs Linux server debate once again, causing many people to reconsider their choices.

For a start, Windows Server 2008 R2 is the first Windows server to use only 64-bit architecture. It also manages memory better by supporting Second Level Translation and Nested Page Tables. Windows Server 2008 R2 has the latest version of IIS, with better security features and a much improved Best Practices Analyzer.

It handles power better with the help of the recently launched Windows 7 by managing consumption better. PowerShell 2.0 is also contained in the package, which allows easier interaction with the base code and also a variety of testing tools for debugging.

Windows Server 2008 R2 works better for the end user too, with better desktop functions such as access to some graphics functions. Microsoft has also considered remote users trying to use computers from afar, by treating remote users the same way that local connections are dealt with. This dedicated server makes it easier to resolve problems from a distance. This means less waiting for the engineer to arrive when something goes wrong.

All in all there is a great deal to be considered with Windows Server 2008 R2, none more so than the fact that it was launched to go along with the successful Windows 7.

At CWCS we have all the information you will need about this, or any of the many servers on offer, and can help you find the right dedicated server for your company.

Sharing Your System Saves You Money

When choosing the right Linux or Windows server for your system, there is much to consider. How much down-time is there? What kind of bandwidth does it provide? For a start-up or small company, these problems may seem a little over-reaching, but when another firm is using a shared served with you and they have a high amount of traffic, you may find your pride and joy playing second fiddle.

Finding a shared Windows or Linux server that works for you and your customers is vital. For a start, if the server has similar sized websites hosted on it then you would imagine that no one site has priority over the others. Also, knowing that some high security sites may get hit by hackers and virus could cause you a little concern.

This is not the kind of information the web hosting service will tell you about, however. Instead, these are things that you may find out and become increasingly disappointed with over the course of time. Your trust in a good web hosting provider is essential to ensure you have a good working relationship and a sound and stable environment for your site.

At CWCS we run our own web hosting facilities, which means we aren’t just a broker. If you want the server with us, it stays with us, and that is why we have been voted number one. We are your personal host, here to provide you with the personal service you need and your customers demand. Check out our offers and see what we can do for you.
