Get Your Domain Name Right From The Start

When it comes to a domain name, there are several factors that most people do not think about before they dive in. What may seem like a good deal at first with a “free domain” offer, could turn out to be more trouble than it is worth.

When you purchase your domain name right from the start, you own it outright. That means your domain name and your URL will always stay exactly the same, no matter what web hosting company you use. Choosing the right domain name is essential if you want to build a successful business. CWCS can help you find the right domain name for your organization. Something too long, or something that has nothing to do with what your business does, will be easily forgotten by visitors. Stick to industry relevant domain names, so that your website can be associated easily with you and what you do.

A domain name and a website are obviously essential, but without web hosting, your website won’t actually be online and available to customers. CWCS web hosting is the reliable choice when it comes to ensuring that your website is always there and helping your business to grow.

We have many different kinds of web hosting packages, so there is something to meet the needs of every website and business, from cost effective shared hosting to dedicated servers for those with much larger requirements.

Colocation Centres

CWCS colocation centres are very secure because your web hosting is vitally important. They are fitted with CCTV systems and have measures in place whereby visitors have to be accompanied by employees. Our colocation centres have secure access codes on top of other security and such high tech measures are fast becoming commonplace because your servers need to be protected from anything which can cause your web hosting to let you down.

Utilities

Our CWCS colocation centres have their own generators providing automatic back up power in case of a mains power failure. Also our colocation facilities provide clients with power feeds for their equipment which can be connected to multiple sections of the power grid, ensuring a high level of reliability. The climate controlled facilities stop the hardware from overheating.

With our colocation services, your servers are in the safest possible environment to allow them to function as they should, reliably and consistently, meaning that your business can get on with doing what it does and your web hosting simply works.

What is a Data centre?

A data centre is a facility which is used to house, or accommodate web hosting computer servers and components which comprise of telecommunications and storage as well as back up power supplies, environmental controls and security devices.

Data centres originate from very large computer control rooms dating back to the ‘beginning’ of the use of computers in business and the dawn of the internet, but these early systems were hard to operate and maintain because they needed a special environment in order to operate. Thousands of cables were necessary to connect everything and these had to accomodated on numerous racks. Web hosting was not nearly so simple back then!

A star is created

The computer boom in the 1980’s gave little care to operating requirements, but as computers grew in complexity it became essential to provide IT controls and resources. In the 1990’s the microcomputer came about, now we call them ‘servers’ and began making their presence known in the old large computer control rooms.

These servers required no expensive networking equipment and with the new standards for cabling, it was possible to design and put them into specific rooms in the same building. The term ‘data centre’ started emerging around this time.

Data centres boomed in the dot-com era because it was necessary to establish a presence on the world wide web and they provided what was necessary to achieve this. But smaller companies found it was not viable for them to install their own data centres and a so a few companies started building large facilities which they called Internet Data Centres, or IDC’s. These provided large businesses with a solution to their IT operations and it is these that have ultimately progressed into private data centres.

CWCS have our own data centres, enabling us to keep a very close eye on all the websites we provide web hosting for and being on the scene immediately if things go wrong. Our CWCS data centres are climates controlled and secure, meaning that your web hosting is in safe hands, whatever size your online operations.

Who Is The Right Web Host?

When it comes to choosing a web hosting company for your business website, it does pay to choose carefully and make sure that you choose a reputable and experienced web host who offers a choice of packages so you can always change at a later date if necessary.

Getting your money’s worth

When you choose a reputable web hosting company such as CWCS for your hosting then you can rest assured that your website needs will be met. You will receive high quality and reliable services for your money. The key decision is on the kind of web hosting package you need for your specific website, as needs differ depending on many variables. For instance, do you need a shared hosting package or a dedicated server hosting package?

Choosing the wrong package here could end up costing you unnecessarily. Shared hosting will cost you less and is meant for smaller websites that can share a server with other small websites. If you need to run a large and more complicated website then a dedicated server package is your answer. CWCS offer many kinds of web hosting, with packages to suit all needs and budgets and you can change or upgrade your hosting at any time to another CWCS solution.

Bandwith Blues

One of the most overlooked factors of owning a hosted website is the bandwidth that your website and its users will end up using every month. Bandwidth costs money. Bandwidth costs you even more money when you have to run around half way through the month to get some more.

The alternative is that your website is shut down till the beginning of the next month. Not a good option indeed. That is why it is exceedingly important to ensure that you are on a web hosting package that suits your monthly bandwidth usage so you don’t run out, nor pay for vastly more than you are using.

Play your cards right

Playing your cards right as far as bandwidth goes is very important. You really don’t want to be caught without bandwidth before the end of the month. However, you also don’t want to end up with stack of bandwidth left over come the end of the month either. You have options, so use them. You can choose between CWCS shared web hosting or dedicated servers. Shared hosting works well for smaller websites that are not going to chow into bandwidth like there is no tomorrow.

On the other hand if you have a graphics heavy website that offers lots of downloadable freebies, music, games video clips and other “bandwidth munchers” then you may well need CWCS dedicated hosting. Shared hosting means that you share a server with many other websites and their sites can sometimes have an effect on yours, although this is the most cost effective web hosting option.

Dedicated hosting leaves you with a server all to yourself an a larger bandwith allowance. CWCS have an experienced team who can advise you on the right sort of web hosting for your business to ensure that you get the best service and the best value for money.

New to Web Hosting?

Web hosting is a critical part of what makes the internet work. It is that service which allows people and companies to create their own websites while offering to host it on their own servers, alleviating the necessity of purchasing, creating and maintaining their own.

Owners of websites are called webmasters and they give their data to a web host who in turns stores and publishes the information to the internet. This is what allows people all over the world access to their website.

There are many ways in which to find web hosting solutions which suit you and your budget.

Free web hosting suits individuals who run on very small budgets but is rarely suitable for businesses, partly because the functions provided by free hosting companies do not enable your online business to grow.

CWCS provide web hosting in various packages depending on your needs and your pocket and the CWCS team can advise you on the best match for your requirements.

What does it cost?

Costs depend on the kind of web hosting package you choose and what features you require of your hosting. Shared web hosting is cheaper than dedicated servers and is often the best option to start with until your business becomes established. You can upgrade to a different CWCS package at any time.

If you choose shared web hosting, your website will be hosting along with many others on a particular server while dedicated web hosting allows for only one website per server, hence a higher monthly cost. The CWCS team can give you expert advice on the right package for you.

Getting Too Big For Shared Hosting? Then Go Virtual

There are a large variety of CWCS web hosting packages in different price ranges for website owners to choose from. All of our different web hosting packages have been developed to suit different needs. Statistics show that approximately 90% of all websites make use of shared web hosting.

Factors such as size of business and the amount of web traffic generated is normally the deciding factor for choosing a specific web hosting package. The great thing about expansion is that as your company grows, you have the option to upgrade to a different CWCS web hosting package.

Your needs will dictate when to upgrade

A managed virtual private server [VPS], also known as a virtual dedicated server, is a great upgrade from using shared web hosting. As a VPS client you still serve a single server, but partitioned with other websites on their own parts of the server. VPS hosting brings great benefits such as the fact that the other websites on the server do not affect your own website.

The specific part of the server that belongs to you is under your complete control. VPS hosting can be compared to a dedicated server with all the benefits of that, but on a smaller scale. When your website has progressed to a stage of much heavier traffic than when it first launched, the logical option is to upgrade to VPS.

This is also the best web hosting option for websites that are heavy with graphics, large databases and the like. It is a cost effective option if shared hosting no longer fulfils your needs.

Colocation Hosting

Colocation hosting revolves around another type of a data centre. A colocation centre is where many clients are able to locate networks, servers and storage as well as being able to interconnect through a variety of methods and network service providers. The servers belong to the customers, but the centre belongs to CWCS. Colocation hosting is cost effective and less complex than having your own server on the premises of your business.

Many large organisations are seeing the benefits of colocating their critical equipment within a data centre, and as a result CWCS colocation is becoming popular because of time and costs. Another benefit is the climate and environmental control of our colocation centres. They can regulate temperature, have protection in place against lightning or water damage, things that most businesses couldn’t ensure if they hosted their own server in a corner of their office.

CWCS Colocation provides safe web hosting in a colocation centre whilst enabling you to retain full control of your servers and their management, but still benefiting from our customer support services. Another benefit for a client is the increased bandwith colocation centres produce which speeds up website access.

Colocation Packages

CWCS colocation comes in several different packages, depending on your requirements. From a single server which comes with a couple of ip addresses and 2 amps of power, up to full racks of servers, providing 8 amps of power and 20 ip addresses.

All of our CWCS colocation packages also include multiple high speed internet connections, high security and climate controlled environments, an account manager to help ensure everything runs as it should, and plenty of free coffee when you come and work on your servers.
